Apply for a Home

In order to be eligible to apply for housing at Providence Park, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Chronically Homeless

You must be chronically homeless and must be able to show verifiable proof. Chronic Homelessness is defined as living in a place not meant for human habitation such as a park or abandoned building, a safe haven, or an emergency shelter for at least 12 months or at least 4 separate occasions over the last 3 years, as long as the combined occasions equal at least 12 months, AND you must have at least one disabling condition. A disabling condition refers to physical or mental impairment that significantly limits a person’s ability to perform major life activities. This could include mental illness, a physical disability, or a substance abuse disorder.

Source of Income

To live at Providence Park, you’ll need to have a way to pay rent—this could be through benefits (like SSI/SSDI, VA Benefits, or Retirement), verified employment, or a funding source agreement. There are no income limits—you simply need to show that you can pay your rent comfortably. Not having income right now doesn’t mean you can’t be accepted. We’re here to help connect you with resources and support to create a plan for covering rent.

Residency

Eligibility requires that individuals have lived in Pulaski County for at least one full year prior to applying for a home at Providence Park.

Age

You must be 18 years or older to be able to live within Providence Park. We will require all future neighbors of Providence Park to have the ability to show proof of your age (valid driver’s license, state ID, military ID, etc.).

Criminal History

You must consent to a background check, including criminal history. Your application will be automatically denied if you are on the Sex Offender Registry. Additionally, Providence Park reserves the right to deny someone who has a conviction during the look back periods listed in the following chart. Also, you must not have a history of violating Providence Park rules such as trespassing, repeatedly breaking the overnight guest policy, or engaging in any criminal activity on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

The following frequently asked questions should help answer questions you might have about completing the application for housing. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at housing@providenceparkhome.com.

What if I don’t have a source of income, can I still live at Providence Park?

At Providence Park, one of our most important rules is that everyone must be able to pay rent on time. Before moving in, you’ll need to have a stable plan in place to cover your rent. Our care team is ready to help you through the process. If you don’t currently have a verifiable source of income (see Eligibility Requirements), we will help connect you with resources and support to create a plan for covering your rent.

If your income changes, please send us updated proof, like a benefits letter, 90 days of recent paystubs from the same employer, or a funding agreement or pledge form.

Can I work onsite as my sole source of income or way to pay rent?

We are creating a Community Works Program that provides dignified income opportunities. This includes 1099 contract opportunities available within Providence Park. These are meant to help provide extra income, but please keep in mind that they are limited and not guaranteed. Because of this, they may not be a reliable long-term or primary source of income.

Is there an income amount requirement?

There are no income limits—minimum or maximum—to live at Providence Park. You just need to be able to afford your rent and basic living expenses. If you don’t currently have income, that won’t automatically prevent you from being accepted. We’re here to help you explore resources and support options to help cover your rent.

How much is the rent for a tiny home?

Rent for a tiny home is $325 per month. This cost includes your utilities.

What documentation is required to process my application?

You will need to provide a copy of a valid state ID or driver’s license, your social security card, military ID (if applicable), birth certificate if available, and proof of income (if available).

Can I apply to live with someone else?

If you are married and want to live in the same home, you must provide your marriage license, and each spouse must apply and qualify separately. We do not allow roommates and are not set up for family care.

What if I have a criminal record? Can I still apply?

Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you from applying for housing at Providence Park. However, individuals currently listed on the Sex Offender Registry are not eligible to live at Providence Park.

Providence Park also reserves the right to deny applicants with certain charges within the lookback periods (see Criminal History Lookback Chart). We’re committed to working with individuals who have a criminal history and will carefully review each situation, though we cannot guarantee approval.

Can I have a pet in my tiny home?

Neighbors at Providence Park are welcome to have one pet, as long as it weighs 60 pounds or less. You’ll need to confirm that you’ve received and understand the Providence Park Pet Rules and agree to follow them.

A $50 pet deposit is required (note: verified assistance animals are exempt from this deposit). You’ll also need to provide proof of vaccinations within two weeks of moving in, and all pets must be spayed or neutered. If your pet isn’t spayed or neutered, or still needs vaccinations, we’re happy to help you arrange those services.

What can disqualify me in the application process?

An applicant who has previously violated the rules of Providence Park prior to moving in will potentially be disqualified. These violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Falsified information on your application
  • History of violating Providence Park community rules
  • Any illegal activity onsite at Providence Park
  • Receiving a criminal trespass warning by Providence Park
  • Physical or verbal threats or abuse
  • Squatting on Providence Park property

Also, an applicant who no longer meets the eligibility criteria will be disqualified. You must qualify both at the time of your application submission as well as when your name comes up on the waiting list and during your housing interview.

Can I have a car when I live at Providence Park?

One vehicle per neighbor is permitted on the property. Any exceptions must be cleared through Providence Park Property Management in advance. Your vehicle will be required to display a Providence Park permit that will be provided after verification. Any vehicle without a proper permit is subject to towing at the owner’s expense. Your vehicle must be in operable condition, have an up-to-date registration, and you must provide proof of current insurance.

After I have moved in, can I move homes?

Once you have moved into your home, you will not be permitted to move to a different home except in cases requiring special accommodation in the following situations: Emergency or Safety Reasons or for a Reasonable Accommodation for Disability. If you believe that your situation should be considered for a possible move, the Neighbor Care Team will review your case.

What can I do while I wait to be called for a housing interview?

There may be a wait time between your application submission and reaching the top of the waitlist. While you are waiting, please keep us informed of any updates or changes to your application, such as contact information or changes in your housing status. Failing to do so may result in us not being able to reach you and your application will be placed in an inactive status. To update information on your application, please email housing@providenceparkhome.com.

How many Third-Party Verifications are needed to verify my homeless history?

To qualify for housing at Providence Park, all applicants must meet HUD’s definition of chronic homelessness, as explained in the Eligibility Criteria. To confirm this, we require third-party verification from either one service provider or one individual who has directly witnessed your homelessness (such as a case worker, employer, business owner, family member, or friend). Keep in mind that we may need more than one verification form in order to document your homeless history to meet the HUD definition of chronic homelessness.
